Course Overview
The PADI Tec 40 Instructor course is the entry level PADI Tec Instructor rating introducing you to the organization and conduct of PADI Tec 40 programs. The course will review knowledge concepts, hone skills specifically related to technical diving and apply teaching concepts.

Your technical instructor training program will include specific training that is beyond the outline of typical technical diver programs to ensure you can offer the most up to date, comprehensive technical training programs available.
Ocean Quest is one of the very few qualified PADI Dive Centre to train PADI Tec Instructors in Canada and is the only active PADI Technical Instructor Training facility.
A Tec 40 Instructor is qualified to:
- Conduct Discover Tec programs
- Independently conduct and certify PADI Tec Basics Divers
- Independently conduct and certify PADI Tec 40 Divers
The Tec 40 Instructor course consists of:
- Key concepts and standards from the PADI Tec Basics and Tec 40 programs
- Review of Workshops and Practical Applications related to the PADI Tec Basics and Tec 40 Programs
- Develops key technical diving skills to demonstration quality
- Reviews teaching techniques for knowledge development and in water sessions related to the PADI Tec Basics and PADI Tec 40 programs
- Successfully complete the PADI Tec 40 Instructor Exam
- Assist with a PADI Tec 40 program
Throughout the program you will need to demonstrate familiarity and competence in PADI Tec 40 Knowledge and Skills
Prerequisites
To enroll in a PADI Tec 40 Instructor course, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
- High level of technical diving skills and knowledge
- PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or higher rating)
- PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty Instructor
- PADI Deep Diver Specialty Instructor
- 25 EANx dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet
- Tec 45 Diver
- 10 decompression dives wearing full technical equipment
Exit Requirements
- Certified 25 Divers
- Have a minimum of 20 decompression dives
Medical Statement
All technical diving instructor candidate are required to provide a Diver Medical Statement signed by a physician within the past 12 months stating you are fit to dive

The Tec 40 Instructor Training portion must be completed prior to the PADI Tec 40 student start date so be sure to arrange training in advance of the PADI Tec 40 program you wish to audit.
There is a high expectation of technical diving knowledge, skills and experience to enroll in and ultimately succeed in passing any technical diving instructor program.
