PADI Technical Wreck Penetration Diver Distinctive Specialty – Exclusive to Ocean Quest!

The PADI Technical Wreck Penetration Specialty program will teach divers specific theory, equipment configuration and practical training to enter wrecks safely beyond the light zone limits. The program will also train divers on how to plan wreck dives and wreck penetration dives with decompression obligations. Training dives and certification will be to a maximum of 50 m / 165 ft or within the training and experience of the individual student, whichever is shallower.

Maximum penetration distance is limited to 50 m / 165 ft. Students are encouraged to continue to practice the techniques outlined in this course to promote proficiency in the skills they learn in this program.

The program includes 6 dives total with a minimum of 4 Wreck Penetration dives. Penetration dives will include a number of practical skills within the overhead environment.

Equipment Requirements: Full technical equipment is required for this course (backmount or sidemount configurations) with 1 -2 decompression cylinders (40 cuft) and 1 stage cylinder (80 cuft).

Prerequisite:

To qualify for the Technical Wreck Penetration course, an individual must:
1. Be certified as a Wreck Penetration Distinctive Specialty Diver (Note - PADI Wreck Diver Specialty does not apply) or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.
2. Be certified as a PADI Tec 45 diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

Any penetrations dives below 100 ft / 30 m will require PADI TMX 45/50 programs or TDI Helitrox Diver certification.

Important note: Due to the nature of wreck penetration diving, student must demonstrate acceptable performance in this program prior to earning certification.  Enrolling in this program is not a guarantee for certification.  In order to optimize the potential of being successful in this program, students are encouraged to meet with their instructor to discuss how to prepare for training.
