Course Overview

Exclusive to Ocean Quest!

The purpose of the PADI Foundations of Diving program is to focus on specific theory and practical work to assist students in improving their knowledge, skills and ability – the Fundamentals of Diving.  The program will develop fundamental diving skills such as buoyancy, trim, propulsion and awareness as well as cover important theory topics including equipment configuration, communication, team work, dive planning and handling diving emergencies. 

These skills are important to all divers, but will strongly benefit any divers interested in pursuing activities such as underwater photography, deep diving, wreck diving and technical diving.


Theory topics include:

  • Equipment and Configuration
  • Communication – Hand Signals – Light Signals
  • Trim Buoyancy – Proper Underwater Positioning
  • Propulsion
  • Descents and Ascents
  • Awareness
  • Team Work and Positioning
  • Dive Planning
  • N2 and CO2
  • Diving Emergencies

There are 4 open water training dives that will include essential skills such:

  • Controlled and Precision Descents and Ascents
  • Advanced Buoyancy, Trim and Propulsion Techniques
  • SMB (Surface Marker Buoy) Deployment
  • Team Diving Techniques
  • Handling Diving emergencies
  • and much more

Program can be taken in single or double cylinders (backmount or sidemount)


Prerequisites:

  • 15 Years Old
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
  • Recent drysuit diving experience within 12 months. If you have not completed a dive within the past 12 months, please contact Ocean Quest prior to registering
  • It is recommended that you have at least 20 – 30 local dives to enroll in this program

Medical Statement

All students must complete a Medical Statement prior to any in water activities. Please consult Ocean Quest if you answer “yes” to any of the medical questions as you may need to see a physician prior to the course start date.
