Course Overview
The PADI Tec 65 to Tec Trimix upgrade is for certified Tec 65 divers who want to further their training to PADI Tec Trimix. The PADI Tec Trimix will further develop skills learned in the Tec 65 stage of training to extend divers abilities. Emphasis will be on advanced dive planning to a depth range of 245 ft – 300 ft., using multiple bottles including at least 1 stage and 2 decompression bottles.
Successful students will be qualified to utilize any trimix /oxygen content including hypoxic mixes as a bottom gas along with utilizing multiple stage / deco bottle and complete accelerated decompression dives using two or more decompression cylinders. Minimum depth reached in the program would be 245 ft/ 75 m.
The Ocean Quest Difference…
Your Tec Trimix course will include training in handling and rotation of 3 Deco/Stage cylinders during one dive. These skills include use of a leash and bottle rotations. You will also learn and gain practical experience in planning and executing 2 technical dives in one day.
Prerequisites
- Be a PADI Rescue Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization and having proof of CPR and first aid training with the previous two years)
- Be certified as a PADI Tec 50 or PADI Tec Trimix 65 (or those holding a qualifying certification from another training organization)
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have logged at least 150 dives
Medical Statement
All technical diving students are required to provide a Diver Medical Statement signed by a physician within the past 12 months stating you are fit to dive

Additional Notes
Students are required to possess a high level of buoyancy control while maintaining horizontal trim, advanced propulsion techniques including modified frog kicking, modified flutter kicking, helicopter turns and back finning. The ability to maintain a stable position in the water.
An Assessment is required for students entering the Tec Trimix Diver course with a qualifying prerequisite certification from another training organization. It is required for Tec 50 certified students who have not made a technical decompression dive requiring a decompression cylinder to 40 metres/130 feet or deeper within the previous six months.
