PADI Sidemount Diver

Originating from the cave diving world over 30 years ago, Sidemount diving is now enjoyed by many divers for recreational and technical use.

Ocean Quest was the first Vancouver Dive Shop to offer Sidemount training. We offer detailed instruction and advice on how to effectively dive sidemount as well as how to choose proper sidemount diving equipment.

There are many benefits to sidemount configuration including:

• Better balance and trim
• More streamlined
• Added redundancy which makes diving safer
• Easy access to your valves while diving
• More available gas for longer dives (perfect for Nitrox diving!)
• Can be used for technical diver training

The Ocean Quest Difference…

Ocean Quest is well known throughout Canada for their sidemount and technical diver training. Our Sidemount instructors are not only highly skilled, but are also active sidemount and technical divers themselves. This means that they will bring a lot of practical experience and will teach many details often overlooked by other instructors. Prerequisites:

• 15 Years Old
• PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• Recent drysuit diving experience within 12 months. If you have not completed a dive within the past 12 months, please contact Ocean Quest prior to registering
• It is recommended that you have at least 20 – 30 local dives to enroll in this program

Medical Statement

All students must complete a Medical Statement prior to any in water activities. Please consult Ocean Quest if you answer “yes” to any of the medical questions as you may need to see a physician prior to the course start date.

• All Standard Scuba Equipment
• Primary Dive Light
• SMB / Spool
• Sidemount BCD, Regulators and Tanks – Sidemount Rental Package available for $75
• Contact Ocean Quest if you require any standard equipment beyond sidemount gear

Many of our students choose to learn sidemount in their own sidemount equipment. Ocean Quest has a unique expertise in sidemount and technical diving equipment. If you are interested in purchasing your gear prior to the course, Ocean Quest staff will assist you with choosing the gear to best meet your needs. More importantly, we will ensure everything is set up and adjusted properly to ensure your move to sidemount configuration is a successful and rewarding experience!

Price is based on minimum of two participants. Private training is available for an additional $300. You can upgrade to private training on the course registration page.
